RECONHECIMENTO GEOLÓGICO DA SERRA DO RONCADOR, ESTADO DE MATO GROSSO

Geological investigation in the Roncador plateau and adjacent areas have shown that typical geological deposits of the Paraguaian miogeosincline reach the Araguaia basin. The Roncador plateau indicates the aproximate contact of the Guapore platform with one marginal basin of this geonsincline. Presence of rocks from the Chapada Group in the detritical coverture of the plateau was confirmed, as well as younger beds, possibly of Paleozoic age, where oolitic iron ore was discovered New data about the Cenozoic coverture in the Araguaia and Sete de Setembro river basins are presented.
