Study on epoxy-amine/epoxy-acrylate complex cathodic electrodeposition coating

2009
Epoxy-amine cationic resin and epoxy-acrylate cationic resin were synthesized. The two cationic resins were mixed in a proper content for the preparation of two component waterborne cathodic electrodeposition coating with low VOC used in automobile. The chemical structure of the resins and influence factors on the glass transition temperature(Tg) and thermal stability were investigated by FTIR,DSC and TG.The surface and fracture surface morphology of the cured coating films were analyzed by SEM.The results showed that the complex coating film had the best combined properties. When the mass fraction of epoxy-acrylate resin was 80% in the mixed resins, the cured coating film had a single Tg and the two cationic resins were compatible thus they had synergistic effect of improving the properties of the coating film.
