Occurrence of Peritonitis Livith Two Rare Organisms-Diphtheroid Species and Acinetobacter Species in a Patient Receiving Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis: A Case Report and Literature Review

2012
Peritonitis due to simultaneous infection with diphtheroid species and Acinetobacter species is an unusual and difficult to treat entity. We report herein one such episode in a patient of End Stage Renal Disease(ESRD) on Continuos Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis (CAPD) and it's gratifying outcome. Diphtheroid infection may be due to the skin contamination. But we have no definite reason to offer for the occurrence ofAcinetobacter infection. Patient responded to intro-peritoneal (I.P.) vancomycin and ceftazidime. There was no recurrence.
