Development and introduction of the hot-plate mill program

2007
This article is devoted to the development of a program that estimates the energy-force characteristics and other operating parameters for the hot rolling of plates. An explanation is given of aspects of the program’s development and a mathematical model constructed to describe the rolling operation. A comparison is made between calculated and experimental values of the motor current and the temperature of the semifinished product by pass during the rolling of plates of steel 10G2FBYu. The program was successfully tested and introduced on the 2800 plate mill at Ural Steel. Its use has facilitated selection of the appropriate regimes for the controlled rolling of high-strength plates and has eliminated breakage of the mill equipment.
