Retardation of fracture healing in experimental diabetes

Abstract Fracture healing is retarded in rats with uncontrolled alloxan diabetes, as determined by tensile-strength and histochemical evaluation of the fracture callus. Treated alloxan diabetes produces histochemical evidence of a less severe delay of fracture healing but no adverse effect on gain in callus tensile strength.
