NUMERIC MODEL OF STRETCHING PROCESS OF FLOAT GLASS

The mathematics model for the stretching process of float glass was established. Applying the three-dimensional model of finite-element method, the stretching process for float glass with thickness of 5 mm was calculated. The effect of rollers in stretching process, and the stress, displacement and thickness distribution of glass ribbon in stretching process were analyzed. Results show that during the stretching process of float glass, the stress in x direction focuses in the region behind the head of roller.In y direction it focuses in the contact spot between the head of roller and glass ribbon.In z direction the stress distributes along the width of the glass ribbon and has a wide range. The ”pull through” of velocity in experiment is found. The comparison of calculated data and the experimental data indicates that the established mathematics model well simulates the stretching process of float glass.
