Febuxostat is a newly-developed non-purine selective inhibitor of xanthine oxidase that decreases uric acid production, and is used for the treatment of hyperuricaemia in patients with gout [1]. Although its adverse events have been reported to be mild-to-moderate [1], several cases of febuxostat-related drug eruptions have been described in the English literature [2-4].
