Spectral study of complexes with charge transfer with polyiodide chains

1991
From analysis of the IR spectra and electron spectra of diffuse reflection of solid iodine complexes with PAN, polyvinylpyridine and a series of 2-vinylpyridine copolymers with nitrogen- and sulphur-containing monomers it is shown that in conditions of mechanical mixing: I2 = 1 : 10 “external” complexes form with charge transfer which in conditions of preparation of cathodic masses (423 K, 2 h) pass into “internal” complexes. The structure and composition of the cationic and anionic components of the “internal” complexes with charge transfer are discussed. The conductometric method is used to determine the activation energies of the reaction of complexing of I2 with the (co)polymers studied and the specific electrical conductivity of the cathodic masses.
