Museum Curators and Hotel Managers in Front of New Technologies and Their Training Needs Differential

2021
This is a qualitative comparative study on the results of two surveys on managerial perceptions about new technologies. The first survey dealt with the perceptions of curators about new technologies in their museums and the second survey dealt with the perceptions of managers about new technologies in their hotels. The surveys employed a similar questionnaire and their comparison of results generates important implications for the further education and training that is necessary for managers in order to embrace new technologies and their adoption in the relevant industries. Consistent to their theoretical educational background, curators need familiarization with basic economic principles, while hotel managers with their business administration background, need to widen their outlook and become acquainted with all the new technological possibilities available by leading competitors worldwide.
