A theory of gravity with broken symmetry

1990
The consequences of introducing a symmetry-breaking mechanism in the gravitational theory of Callan et al. (Ann. Phys. (N.Y.), 59, 42 (1970)) are investigated. It is shown, in particular, that although the chaotic inflationary scenario does not work in their original theory, it can be realized in the framework of the broken symmetric theory.
