Integrity Management of Non-metallic Pipeline

Integrity management is a management system which aims at the safety, facility integrity, and reliability of pipeline. Due to the advantages of non-metallic pipeline in corrosion resistance, the application trend of non-metallic pipeline is rapid. However, non-metallic pipes are quite different from steel pipes in terms of integrity management. This paper outlines the key points and cycle steps for integrity management of non-metallic pipes. The application state of non-metallic pipeline is described. The failure modes and causes of the four typical non-metallic pipelines are illustrated. The monitoring and detection technologies, evaluation technology and standard system of non-metallic pipeline are introduced. This research provides a new framework and perspective of integrity management of non-metallic pipeline, and it standardizes the different workflow. Some suggestions are put forward for the existing problems of the integrity management of non-metallic pipelines: the research on the integrity management of non-metallic pipelines should focus on the improvement of standard system, risk assessment, monitoring and detection, life prediction, and repairing technologies.
