A New Algorithm to Reduce PAPR in OFDM System

This paper analyzes the reason, why Peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) is too high in Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) system and the impairment of PAPR to communication quality. Then, this paper proposes a new differential regression algorithm to reduce PAPR. By differentiating the frequency domain signal so that the average power of the regression signal equals the average power of the original signal, the variance of the instantaneous power becomes smaller. Use this method of reducing the probability of occurrence of large-value instantaneous power to achieve peak-to-average power ratio suppression. Compared with the pulse cancellation algorithm and the tone reservation algorithm (TR), the differential regression method has lower complexity and higher peak clipping performance.
