Electrochemical Behavior of Manganese–Molybdenum Oxide Anodes in Chloride–Sulfate Aqueous Solutions

2008
The electrochemical behavior of the electrodeposited manganese-molybdenum oxides on treated titanium electrodes independently submerged in neutral and acidic solutions is studied using polarization measurements and electrolysis. These titanium electrodes contained both iridium and platinum sublayers prior to electrodeposition. The products formed in the time of the electrolysis of the chloride-sulfate solution were analyzed. It was found that the stability of the manganese-molybdenum oxides coating depends on the method of the anodic electrodeposition. The analysis of products and redox potentials of anolyte during the electro-oxidation of sulfate and sulfate-chloride solutions leads to the conclusion that persulfate is a product of oxidation on manganese-molybdenum oxides.
