Preparation of 2,3-diamino acids: Stereocontrolled synthesis of an aminated analog of the taxol side chain

Abstract A method for the preparation of 2,3-diamino acids is presented, and applied to the synthesis of a β-benzoylamino-phenylalanine ( 2b ), an analog of the taxol side chain. Differentially protected erythro and threo diamines were prepared from a common, optically active, precursor.
