The Accuracy of Roentgenographic Techniques in the Diagnosis of Renal Mass Lesions
1971
Abstract The accuracy of various diagnostic roentgenographic procedures in a series of 361 histopathologically proved renal mass lesions is evaluated. The nephrotomogram and renal radionuclide scan are relegated to the position of a survey examination because of the high number of indeterminate studies. The selective renal arteriogram establishes the diagnosis in vascular renal mass lesions with a high degree of confidence. The combination of intravenous infusion urography, selective renal arteriography, cyst puncture, aspiration, double-contrast cyst study, and chemical and histopathological examination of the aspirant proved to be best for establishing a definitive diagnosis in avascular lesions.
