The feasibility study of repairing benign biliary stricture used vascularized pedicle flap of stomach

2011
Objective To investigate the morphological and histological changes of vascularized pedicle flap of stomach in repairing benign biliary stricture.Method A total 10 patients with biliary stricture were repaired with vascularized pedicle flap of stomach from January 2008 to June 2010,the morphological and histological changes of flap of stomach were by postoperative cholangioscopy and pathological examination. Results Postoperative cholangioscopy revealed the flap of stomach and extrahepatic bile duct can maintain normal morphology. No biliary stricture occurred in postoperative follow-up of 6 months to 3 years, except one patient received re-operation because of metastatic adenocarcinoma at hepatoduodenal ligament. Conclusion Repair of the bile duct stricture by using vascularized pedicle flap of stomach can preserve the biliary sphincteric function and a better long term outcome may be anticipated.
