Cathodic Arc Evaporation and its Applications to Thin-Film Synthesis

The development of arc plasma physics is closely related to the development of electricity and thus can be traced back to the 18th century. Recent articles by Anders [1 , 2] and Boxman [3] are tracking down the origin of arc plasma in pulsed, oscillating and continuous modes, and provide extensive references to early work.
