1205 EL YARALANMASI OLGUSUNUN RETROSPEKTİF ANALİZİ

Introduction Hand injuries are the most frequent injuries that plastic surgeons asked to treat, and due to high morbidity they have to be treated by well trained teams. Material and Methods This study is a retrospective analysis of hand injuries 1205 patients who have been treated between the 2004 and 2008 at Eskisehir Osmangazi University medical faculty Plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery department . Findings 1053 (87%) of our patients were male and 152 (13%) were female. 157 (13%) of the patients were under the age of 18 which is classified at pediatric group ; 980 (81%) of the patients were between 19-59 years and classified at adult age group; 68 (6%) of the patients were more than 60 years and classified at geriatric group. Hand injuries caused by cutting-piercing tools are accounted for 33% (393) of the injuries, followed by hitting a pane of glass (9-103%). 228 (19%) of the patients admitted to our clinic because of the work related injury and accepted as criminal case. In addition, in this study we describe type of injury, localization, where the patients come and treatment that applied. Results The results of this study showed that hand injuries are preventable injuries by taking minor cautions in daily life and more serious occupational safety, and reducing crime rates.
