Design of patrol inspection system for special equipment based on UAV

This paper introduces a novel patrol inspection and platform for special equipment based on Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV). The design of the multi-rotor UAV system is mainly composed of a six-axis UAV platform, inspection sensor modules and a ground station, including functions of obstacle avoidance, high-definition cameras detection, remote control and automatic generation of test reports. These performances can definitely enhance the reliability and stability of the UAV system and benefit the inspection patrol for potential diseases of special equipment. Then mechanical structural check is demonstrated and the patrol application example results show this approach can reduce the danger of detection task and improve the working efficiency compared to manual inspection.
