O Programa institucional de extensão da Universidade Federal do Cariri: contribuições para o fortalecimento de experiências agroecológicas em comunidades do Cariri cearense

The Institutional Extension Program (PIE) is linked to the Federal University of Cariri (UFCA)and has several segments in which the PIE Agroecology, Sustainability and SocioenvironmentalTechnologies (PIE-ASTS) seeks to develop university extension actions, integratingmore effectively the Tripod teaching-research-extension aimed at strengthening agroecologicalknowledge and practices in the Cariri region of Ceara. In this way, the objective of this workis to present two experiences developed in the PIE-ASTS in 2016 in the Sitio Carneiros, Juazeirodo Norte and Gesso communities in Crato / CE. In both the gardens were implementedand / or improved, strengthening in the families involved, techniques for producing food freeof chemical inputs and awakening them to actions focused on food safety and environmentalpreservation. Being important also for the training of the students of the course of Agronomy,who were immersed in activities that are in the bosom of Agroecology.
