The Exchange: Pushing From Behind?

Some time ago this column carried a request from Jo Heiliger ("The Exchange," Winter 1971) for assistance in identifying the line, "This is the tale of Corally Crothers, she had no sisters nor brothers." The answer, which came from Susan D. Slaughter, a graduate stu dent in the Department of Library Science at the Catholic University of America, indicates that Corally was not one to be satisfied with standing behind anyone. Ms. Slaughter's letter quoted the whole text of The Tale of Corally Crothers (New York: Grosset and Dunlap, 1932), though she insisted the text was only part of the effect of the book since "the illus trations are half the fun."
