Numerical Simulation of Internal Turbulent Flow in Ghost Centrifugal Impeller

The internal turbulent flow in Ghost centrifugal impeller is investigated numerically by CFD software FLUENT.And the Reynolds stress model(RSM) is used to simulate turbulent flow.The mixing plane model(MP) is provided to couple the rotor and stator.The simulated results are accordance with Johnson's experimental results,which show that the turbulent flow in centrifugal impeller can be predicted well by RSM.The internal turbulent flow distribution in different cross section of the impeller is analyzed.The results show that the low energy fluid is transported by secondary flow in the boundary layer,which results in jet-wake flow phenomena at outlet of the impeller.And the jet-wake flow leads to energy loss,whose location depends on Rossby number.
