Study in moving sounds
1997
This piece is a study for two projected live electronic works. Three types of sound were recorded and then played back by a sample player which was built using MAX on the IRCAM Signal Processing Workstation. Poore set very strict limitations within which to work: a very small number of sounds; no transpositions allowed; careful selection of parts of the original sounds by changing start and end points; apart from that, the only processing allowed was enveloping and spatialisation. The sounds are conceptually constantly moving, although they are only heard when a window is opened on them.
