A descoberta de outra realidade: uma experiência no Assentamento Benedito Alves Bandeira (BAB) no Município do Acará, Pará

The present work presents the reflections made from the curricular field stage I of the agronomystudents of the Federal Institute of Para, Campus Castanhal. The students stayed for10 days accompanying a family of farmers in the Benedito Alves Bandeira Settlement (BAB)aiming to characterize the social elements and analyze the human component, verifying theinterrelation between man and the management of natural resources. A Term of Reference(TDR) was constructed, containing participatory methodologies and integrative issues that guidedstudents in the search for information. The family is very young in the settlement, but theirrelations are already well established and the activities carried out are intimately linked to thetime they live on the property, showing interest in staying and progressing in the region. Thepractices developed contribute to the strengthening of the stability of diversification of productive,family, political and social arrangements.
