Rational TBM excavation management system; TBM no jido kussaku to goritekina seko kanri system

Okumura Corp. developed `Full automatic TBM (tunnel boring machine) excavation system` in 1995, and carried out its field demonstration test by adding the excavation management system on PC network. The TBM excavation system is equipped with an automatic direction control system, automatic excavation control system and decision system of excavation muck sizes, and optimizes excavation speeds corresponding to bedrock conditions. The TBM excavation management system has a realtime monitoring function, excavation information network function, and remote maintenance function. This system was applied to the construction work of an underground wire conduit in Tokushima prefecture. As a result, fluctuation of meandering was less in automatic operation than manual control, and fluctuation of thrust, cutter current and speed was less in automatic operation than manual excavation.
