The embodiment of the invention provides a shooting mode selection method and a terminal. The method comprises the steps of: acquiring a first image and a second image by a camera, wherein the first image is an image acquired when a flash lamp supplements light, and the second image is an image acquired when the flash lamp is turned off; comparing brightness of the first image and the second image; and if a brightness difference between the first image and the second image meets a first preset condition, regulating a shooting mode of the camera into a flash lamp mode. By applying the shooting mode selection method and the terminal which are provided by the embodiment of the invention, flexibility of shooting can be improved.
