K + Accumulation as a Pathological Stimulus for Dilatation or Contraction of Cerebral Vessels

1976
There is now abundant experimental and clinical evidence that cerebral blood flow (CBF) is influenced by many different factors. The interactions between these factors and the fact that most of them have several effects, raise difficulties in determining a simple mechanism in the regulation of CBF. The present experimental study attempts to accumulate information on the role of potassium concentration in the extracellular space of the brain in the regulation of CBF under pathologic conditions.
