Relationship between TCM Syndromes and Blood Lipid and Other Related Factors of Hypertension with Carotid Atherosclerosis

Objective A retrospective review was undertaken to discuss the relationship between TCM syndromes and blood lipid and other related factors of hypertension with carotid atherosclerosis.Methods A total of 553 cases of hypertension with carotid atherosclerosis were selected in the hospital ward of three TCM hospital in Guangzhou.Patients' data including TCM syndrome type,carotid atherosclerosis,lipid,uric acid(UA),fibrinogen(FIB),high sensitive C-reactive protein(hs-CRP) and blood rheology were collected to analyze the correlation of TCM syndromes and related factors of hypertension with carotid atherosclerosis.Results Among various TCM syndromes,the level of UA,FIB,hs-CRP and blood rheology of qi dificiency and phlegm stagnation syndrome were significantly higher than that of the other syndromes.TC and LDL-C level of qi deficiency and phlegm group were significantly higher than that of the other syndromes.Conclusion TCM syndromes can be used to determine abnormalities of blood lipid,UA and other related factors of hypertension with carotid atherosclerosis,which has important significance in clinical practice.
