Femtosecond Laser Processing in New Mid-infrared Laser Crystals

For the first time, we explore femtosecond laser writing of waveguides in two new mid- infrared laser crystals. Guiding structures are demonstrated and possibilities for integrated mid-infrared waveguide lasers at 2.79 μm will be reported.
