Field Usable Fusion Splicing Technique for Multicore Fiber

Fusion splice of a 5 core MCF is demonstrated using a field usable compact, lightweight, battery driven fusion splicer. Average splice loss of 0.12 dB/splice is obtained by automated alignment function of the splicer.
