Analysis on epidemiologic feature of malaria of Shandong in 2008

In 2008,174 cases of malaria have been reported in Shandong Province.Of the cases,143 were male and 31 were female;102 were vivax malaria,accounting for 58.62%,37 were falciparum malaria,accounting for 21.26%,and 35 were of an unknown sub-type,accounting for 20.11%.102 cases were imported malaria and 72 cases were local malaria.Therefore,doctors should receive enhanced training in malaria examinations and diagnostic techniques,and emphasized the control and surveillance of imported malaria in future preventive efforts by Shandong Province.
