Bemerkungen zu Hermann Weyers Zeichnungen in Budapest

2009
Abstract Two drawings by Weyer (1596–after 1621) on both sides of one sheet are kept in the Budapest Museum of Fine Arts. The Coburg draughtsman used prints by Jan Harmensz. Muller, Raphael and Aegidius Sadeler as sources for the composition on the recto, and reflections of other Netherlandish artists can also be recognized in his works. He changed his models in a highly original, expressive style. The monogram HEW and the date 1616 on the recto, previously unrecognized, are hidden in the dark area at the foot of the cross.
