SILVER NANOTECHNOLOGY APPLICATIONS TO PRODUCE MEDICAL GAUZE BEING CAPABLE OF DECONTAMINATING

2016
Silver Nano is a substance with strong antibacterial properties and does not show toxicity to humans, has been used in many different areas of life. This study aims to the preparation of silver nano colloid method by reduction with support heating microwave, the soaked gauze in silver colloidal solution and the chemical and physical properties and their antibacterial activity. The characteristics of the silver colloidal solution: silver nano-particles have spherical structures, sizes from 8 - 16nm, with maximum absorption wave-length λmax = 410 nm with the absorbance: 12.76. The concentration of silver colloidal solution (50, 100, 150, 200 ppm) have high antibacterial activity against both 2 species of experimental bacteria that are Gram positive (S. aureus) and Gram negative (E. coli) tested. We are succeeded in making the silver colloidal particles onto a gauze impregnated using the method. The analytical results show that silver nano-particles good adhesion on a gauze and distributed fairly homology-based non-woven fabric gauze. Increased levels of silver Nano concentration (50, 100, 150 and 200ppm), the adhesion of the silver colloidal particles on non-woven gauze fabric increases, and increases disinfection efficiency.
