Fundamental study for utilization of hydraulic mixture of reducing slag and waste by producing titanium oxide
1994
Powdered reducing slag by-produced using electric furnace for steel making has not been utilized effectively. It has been become clear that the slag showed strong hydraulic properties by mixing gypsum. Furtheremore, it has been become clear that soft clay layer of sea and river bed could be stabilized by using the mixture. Hardening property of the mixture of powdered reducing slag and gypsum is owing to ettringaite created by hydration. On the other hand, the waste containing gypsum by productio of titanium oxide have been disposed. In the point of recycle, the mixture of slag and this waste may be able to utilize for the material of soil stabilization.
In this study, a posibility of material of soil stabilization using this mixture were tested for sea bed clay and fly ash. Using the mixture, sea bed clay was improved in strength and unconfined compression strength of fly ash mixed was shown to be able to use for the new soil stabilization material.
