Low crosstalk and low loss 2/spl times/2 thermo-optic digital optical switch using silicone resin waveguides

The authors have developed a 2/spl times/2 digital optical switch (DOS) composed of four 1/spl times/2 DOS elements using silicone resin waveguides. The 2/spl times/2 DOS operated with a switching power of 380 mW, a very low crosstalk of less than /spl times/60 dB, and a low insertion loss of less than 2.5 dB at 1.55 /spl mu/m.
