Perspectives of the 6th Year Medical Student of the Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University to the Study of Forensic Medicine

Background and Objective: Forensic medicine for medical student consists of two major part including forensic autopsy and clinical forensic medicine . The purpose of this study was to assess the attitudes and complacency of medical students to the study of forensic medicine, in Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University. Methods: A quantitative exploratory descriptive survey using a questionnaire was carried out in the 6 th year medical students (N = 243) from Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University. All analyses were performed using SPSS version 17.0. Results: A total of 171 questionnaires were returned with good representation. 68.42% students made positive statements about adequacy of the time for the theoretical and practical issues. After the course, more than 60% of the students felt able to perform an examination in clinical forensic services. However, crime scene/death investigation and medico-legal report/death certificate were most inadequate topics. Conclusions: The finding of this study is good information that might be used for the improvement of forensic medicine class.
