ANÁLISE DA QUALIDADE DE VIDA DOS PACIENTES SUBMETIDOS À REDUÇÃO E FIXAÇÃO DE FRATURAS MANDIBULARES * QUALITY OF LIFE PATIENTS ANALYSIS UNDERGOING REDUCTION AND FIXATION OF THE MANDIBLE FRACTURES

2013
Mandible fractures represented highly prevalent regardless of the anatomical region, with greater involvement of males between the third and fifth decades of life. Most of these fractures required surgical reduction and fixation with titanium plates and screws, with the main objective of occlusion restoration. In the rearrangement postoperative involving pain, edema, paresthesia, other psychological aspects are present, as in patient acceptance of the new condition on post-trauma and post-surgery. Thus, this work aimed to evaluate aspects related to the postoperative period of surgery for reduction and fixation of mandibular fractures by means of a questionnaire applied to patients (OHIP-14). We randomised selected 20 charts of patients undergoing surgery for reduction and fixation of mandibular fractures, independent of the anatomical region affected with at least 6 months postoperatively. We applied the OHIP-14 questionnaire and obtained the answers of 14 questions. Of the 20 patients analyzed, 16 (80%) were male and 4 (20%) were female. In general, the answer "never" was the most commonly found in most patients and questions. The responses "almost never", "occasionally", "infrequent" and "very common" were observed in questions related to phonetic problems, perception of food flavor,
