Clinical Aspects of Organ Transplantation

1975
In recent years much discussion has revolved around the transplantation of various organs. The success of organ transplantation does, for the most part, not depend on surgical skill, but is decisively an immunological problem. The majority of the surgical problems seem to have been resolved or are being resolved. A permanent and lasting solution to transplantation primarily depends on the progress of immunology. We can only give a brief outline here of the clinical aspects of transplantation. For further details the reader is referred to recent reviews, monographs and publications [8a, 11b, 24, 27a, 55a, c, 67, 80b, 83, 84a, 92f, 105].
