Application effects of acupoint massage combined with moxibustion in patients with urinary retention after spinal cord injury

2018
Objective To investigate the therapeutic effect of acupoint massage combined with moxibustion on urinary retention after spinal cord injury. Methods A total of 81 cases with urinary retention after spinal cord injury hospitalized in the Second Affiliated Hospital of Heilongjiang University of Chinese Medicine from February 2016 to February 2017 were recruited in the study using random sampling method. Patients were randomly divided into the control group (42 cases) and the intervention group (39 cases) . Both groups were given routine rehabilitation therapy and nursing care, and the intervention group received additional acupoint massage combined with moxibustion therapy. The clinical efficacy, the autonomous urination time and the incidence of complications of patients were compared between two groups. Results After the treatment, the clinical efficacy in the intervention group and the control group were 92.3% and 68.2% respectively, with statistically significant difference between two groups (χ2=9.42, P=0.01) . The autonomous urination time of patients in the intervention group was (23.10±2.92) d, which was significantly shorter than that in the control group (P 0.05) . Conclusions The application of acupoint massage combined with moxibustion in patients with urinary retention after spinal cord injury has good effects and is worthy of clinical promotion.
