Effect of gestational weight gain on neonatal birthweight

2011
목적: To evaluate whether pregnancy weight gains are associated with the neonatal birthweight 방법: In a cohort of 1,020 women who delivered term singleton neonates at Cheil general hospital in 2007-2010 and who did not have gestational diabetes and chronic disease. We reviewed medical records to ascertain the woman’s pre-pregnancy and pre-delivery weight. We analyzed pre-pregnancy body mass index (kg/m), total pregnancy weight gain, weight gain at each trimester, and neonatal birth weight. Correlation analysis between gestational weight gain and neonatal birth weight was done by SPSS 16.0. We analyzed Pearson correlation coefficient. Statistical significance was established with a P value less than .05. 결과: Pre-pregnancy BMI of study population was 20.8 ± 2.5 kg/m. Total pregnancy weight gain was 13.4 ± 4.0 kg. The amounts of gestational weight gain at first, second, third trimester were 1.4 ± 2.2 kg, 7.4 ± 2.2 kg, 4.6 ± 1.9 kg, respectively. Total pregnancy weight gain and pre-pregnancy BMI were associated with neonatal birthweight (r=0.242, p=.000; r=0.155, p=.000, respectively). The amounts of weight gain at each trimester were associated with neonatal birthweight( First trimester, r=0.109, p=0.001; second trimester, r=0.210, p=.000; third trimester, r=0.135, p=.000). 결론: Total pregnancy weight gain not pre-pregnancy BMI was most significantly associated with neonatal birthweight. Neonatal birthweight was more associated with weight gain at second trimester than that of other trimester.
