Concept and implementation of a three party shopping system for the senior citizen of the society

2016
In recent years elderly population is one of the most important issues in many countries. In Japan, this situation is most severe than any other countries in the world. Number of elderly people is continuously increasing while overall population is decreasing in the country. Many shops have been closed and relocated from the remote rural areas to the urban area due to insufficient consumers. Due to physical weakness elderly people are facing difficulties to do shopping from long distance. Therefore, local government authority carried out a shopping support service nationwide. However, the new initiative has been facing several challenges. Therefore, we have developed a three party model of shopping on the basis of social information infrastructure. We do experiment with the newly developed shopping concept and redesign the interface from the feedback of the citizen. In this paper, we describe the approach and mechanism of our newly developed shopping system and interface. We have discussed the applicability of the system in another country in a different social environment. We also discuss the issues need to solve in future.
