Rare Gas Scattering from LiF. III. Multilobular Structure for Neon

1971
Additional data to that previously reported for the scattering of Ne from the (001) surface of LiF are presented and compared with the results of a recent theoretical analysis. The data presented include details of the in‐plane scattering for the case in which the plane of incidence intersects the surface in the 〈 110 〉 azimuth as well as a detailed examination of the out‐of‐plane scattering for the case in which the plane of incidence lies along both the 〈 010 〉 and 〈 110 〉 aximuthal directions. Measurements are made as a function of angle of incidence, beam temperature, and surface temperature. A complex multilobate structure is observed and, in those instances in which a direct comparison with the theory is available, very good agreement is obtained.
