Report on selection and breeding of the new rice variety-dongdao 3.

"Dongdao 3" was selected through sexual hybridization which took "tongyu 211"as female parent and "nongda 10" as male parent in 1994.It is a late ripening rice with the characteristics of good quality,high yield and multi-resistance.Regional trial and production test results from 2006 to 2007 showed that its yields were 8 293.1 and 8 168.4 kg/hm2 and increased by 0.0%,and 2.4% compared with the control "guandong 107" respectively.The quality of the rice reaches secondary standard of the governmental high grade rice standard,and in addition it has higher resistance to rice blast than the control "guandong 107"."Dongdao 3" was examined and approved by Jilin Provincial Variety Examination and Approval Committee at the beginning of 2008."Dongdao 3"is suitable to be planted in such late ripening rice planting plain regions as Jilin,Liaoyuan,Tonghua,Songyuan and Siping of Jilin province.
