The invention discloses a chicken physiological function regulator which is prepared by mechanically crushing dry cortex moutan and filtering with an 80-mesh sieve. The invention also discloses a preparation method of the chicken physiological function regulator, which comprises the steps of crushing dry cortex moutan and filtering with an 80-mesh sieve. The application method of the chicken physiological function regulator comprises the steps of adding 0.5% of the chicken physiological function regulator to the chicken feed based on the weight percentage and mixing uniformly to feed the chicken. According to the invention, the laying rate is increased and the feed-to-egg ratio is reduced namely the average laying rate can be increased by 2.63% by adding the physiological function regulator to the daily ration of egg-laying chicken, and the feed-to-egg ratio is reduced by 0.03. The average egg weight is increased and the broken/soft egg ratio is reduced namely the average egg weight is obviously increased (P is less than 0.05) by adding the physiological function regulator to the daily ration of egg-laying chicken, and the broken/soft egg ratio is reduced by 0.28%.
