Predicting Train Derailments Using Vibration Sensors And Wireless Transmitters

2017
Trains help people get to distant places quickly. But they can also be very dangerous if the proper precautions aren’t taken such as train up-keeping and track maintenance. The major cause of train accidents is when a train derails out of its tracks. This happens when the train wheels are worn out or when the tracks are damaged. This work proposes a wireless Radio Frequency (RF) system using vibration sensors attached at the train end, by training the system to understand and recognize normal train vibration patterns VS abnormal patterns, to predict when a train is about to be derailed and give necessary warnings to train stations and train drivers.
