Provided is an exhaust gas purification catalyst in which bismuth, which is used as the catalytic metal for a denitrification catalyst, can be uniformly supported on a support. Consequently, the exhaust gas purification catalyst achieves sufficient denitrification performance and has exceptional durability against to sulfur oxides (SOx). This method for manufacturing an exhaust gas purification catalyst is a method for manufacturing a exhaust gas purification catalyst on which zeolite is supported, wherein the method is characterized in including a step for supporting bismuth (Bi) on the zeolite and, in this step, the bismuth (Bi) is dissolved in a solvent, and a compound containing one or more alkoxy groups and one or more hydroxyl groups per molecule, a compound containing two or more hydroxyl groups, or an acid is used as the solvent.
