Effect of static tensile stresses on the damping capacity of porous titanium

1990
The results of investigation of the damping capacity (DC) of porous titanium subjected to dynamic tangential stresses with the application of a static tensile stress are presented. It is shown that the DC of porous titanium depends on the size of the titanium-powder fraction and the residual porosity. It is established that static tensile stresses lead to a decrease in the logarithmic decrement in the majority of cases.
