Del poder de la maquila al poder de la industria moderna. Principio y final de un diseño hidráulico medieval: El caso del Molino y batán mb-13, Colmenar Viejo, Madrid

The socio-economic hegemony maintained by the owners of the maquila mills in the transition from the high course to the middle of the Manzanares river, from the late medieval to the early twentieth century exposes in the mill and fulling mill MB-13, Colmenar Viejo, Madrid. This is deduced from the results obtained in the archaeological excavations in this site, together with the considerable historical documentation generated as a consequence of the conflicts between the owners and the council and, finally, with the Santillana Hydraulic Society, promoter of new conception of this space to develop its industrial project in order to bring water and light to the capital of Spain, totally incompatible with the traditional uses of the Manzanares. The monumentality and historical importance of this extraordinary archaeological complex, together with the hydraulic installations, which ended with the power of its stones, has motivated the Directorate General of Cultural Heritage of the Community of Madrid to join the network of visitable sites
