Liver tumors in children

1993
: In the evaluation of a hepatic mass lesion, imaging techniques are of considerable importance, though the final diagnosis is established by histopathological examination. Radical surgery is still the best treatment for a primary malignant hepatic neoplasm and the surgeon should supplied in advance with all the information needed for planning the operation. Sonography is now the first diagnostic procedure performed, quite often followed by MRI as the only supplementary modality. Scintigraphy and angiography have been largely superseded; they are performed in carefully selected individual cases. CT is an alternative to MRI.
