The Physiological Factors affecting Peripheral Arteriosclerotic Index: Predictors of Peripheral Arterial Disease Risk

2014
Peripheral arterial disease (PAD), which is a common manifestation of atherosclerosis, is associated with an increased risk of vascular morbidity and mortality despite medical therapeutics. In the study population, ABI, SBP, DBP, body indices, hematological, biochemical, and inflammatory markers, were measured. The body indices (age, body weight, and body mass index) were negatively or positively correlated with ABI, SBP or DBP (P < 0.05). Hematological markers had negative or positive relationship to ABI, SBP or DBP (P < 0.05). Diabetic and liver function markers were negatively or positively associated with ABI, SBP or DBP (P < 0.05). We conclude that there are significant correlations between physiological factors and peripheral arteriosclerotic indices
